With thanks to our partners

MBA NSW-ACT has been a small team since 1896, yet we have been able to positively effect many tens of thousands of lives. We can only do this because we strongly believe in collaboration with like-minded organisations. We respect the partners we work with, whether they be part of our regular service delivery, working in mutual projects or providing the funding that enables us to meet the increasing demand for our services.

Financial Counselling

Our Financial Counselling is provided by Sergio Arcaini who specialises in assisting doctors and works for MBA NSW-ACT on a contract basis. Sergio has an extensive background in finance, having founded and run a successful Financial Planning business for more than 30 years. In that business he had a number of doctor clients and is familiar with the issues that can cause them to neglect their personal finances. Sergio has worked with our sister organisation Vic MBA for over a decade and has gained familiarity with the many reasons that can significantly impact a doctor’s financial base.

He is passionate about helping doctors to understand their financial situation and to up-skill with tools and tips to build a more robust financial base. Sergio’s skills are used when there is a more complex financial situation or where longer term financial support is needed. Our ultimate goal is for all beneficiaries to return to financial independence and our Social Workers will talk to you about accessing his skills and experience at the appropriate stage, which is normally when things are more stable.

Medical Career Planning

Dr. Ashe Coxon, (MBBS, FRACGP, DCH, MClinEd, Grad Cert Career Development, AFANZAHPE), is a General Practitioner and career counsellor who works with doctors to assist them to find true happiness in their professional work. She is the founder of Medical Career Planning.

At times our doctors may be feeling burnt out and questioning their vocation. By contacting our Social Workers, we can facilitate access to either Ashe's online courses or a series of 1-on-1 counselling sessions. These will provide you with a better understanding of yourself, your intrinsic values, interests, personality traits and skill-set. Armed with this information, Ashe will assist you to identify other potential career options, including medical, non-medical, clinical and non-clinical roles or some hybrid part-time combination of all of these.

Normally 2-3 sessions are required, each 2 to 4 weeks apart, and there is additional time required for “homework”. It is best to speak to our Social Worker about any interest in these services, as it’s important to do these sessions at the right time in your personal journey. Where financial hardship is verified, MBA NSW-ACT may help cover the costs of the first few sessions. If there is no financial hardship, mentioning that you found out about MCP through us, will entitle you to a discount.
